International Students in South Australia

The South Australian Training Advocate, set up to assist young & inexperienced students, apprentices and trainees to work around the Australian vocational training system has now been extended to international students.

The service which now offers independent advice to local and international students has been hailed by the Employment, Training & Further Education Minister, Steph Key.

"It's a logical extension to ensure that our 17,000 international students can access the same high quality personalised service which will mirror the proven procedures for South Australians engaged in the training system, said Minister Key.

"Together with the existing networks and infrastructure across the state, the Training Advocate will now offer a streamlined service for international students, a one-stop-shop where students who are not sure how to access help, can be pointed in the right direction".

This is a positive result for South Australia with Adelaide being hailed as the preferred student destination for international students. The state has recorded double the national average rise in international students for the last 3 years.

"South Australia has a growing reputation with overseas students as not only providing a good education and a beautiful state to live in, but also as having a friendly and generous community, which provides good support for its international students", said Minister Key.
