Exchange Student - Australia

International Secondary Student Exchange programs

The Western Australian government welcomes international secondary student exchanges andthe many benefits it brings for both parties.

Student visas are only issued for full-time courses for at least a year. However, the minimum period for international student enrolment can be three months or a year.
International students on an approved exchange program are issued 560 visas classifying them as overseas students.


Dependant children of postgraduate students
Children of postgraduate students from the following universities will be accepted at government schools on a spare capacity basis:

  • Curtin University of Technology
  • Edith Cowan University
  • Murdoch University
  • University of Notre Dame
  • University of Western Australia


Conditions of enrolment

  • The postgraduate student must be pursuing a Masters or PhD qualification
  • Enrolment must take place at site of study
  • No direct contact must be made by the postgraduate student towards any government school
  • The postgraduate student is responsible for all tuition fees and associated costs
